Montescena is situated above the centre of Scena and mainly consists of a little hamlet with some 115 inhabitants. Accessible is the village not only via the road, but also by the Taser Cable Car, taking its passengers up to 1,450 m a.s.l. From the mountain station you can head for several hiking destinations round Monte Ivigna or scale its summit.
One of the main attractions of Montescena is the family-run Taser Alpine Hut, which is an excursion destination that is based on ecological principles. Another highlight is the Taser high-rope course, which is one of the largest of its kind. Located at 1,500 m a.s.l., it offers various obstacles among the tree-tops, a fabulous view from the platforms in between, an exercising area as well as a flying fox.
A particular event taking place on Montescena is the so-called “Berger Pfinstig“, taking place from April to October every third Thursday of the month in the hiking area between Verdines and Merano 2000, as “Pfinstig“ means Thursday in dialect. Traditional dishes, folk music and also an animation programme for children is offered.
