Lana

Lana, the largest fruit-growing village of South Tyrol, boasts a lively centre and a number of cultural monuments

The market town of Lana lies at the southernmost edge of the basin of Merano at the entrance of Val d'Ultimo and is easily reachable by train and car. The territory includes an area ranging from 250 to 1,910 m a.s.l. As a matter of fact, Lana is one of the most ancient fruit-growing villages of South Tyrol. The "orchard of South Tyrol“, often also called the "gateway to the south“, is set in the heart of a Mediterranean-alpine landscape and is a modern and family-friendly village, boasting also a series of attractions.

Great historical importance is attached to the multitude of churches, chapels and monasteries spread all over the village, such as the ruins of Leonburg, Braunsberg and Brandis castles.

Either shopping in the pedestrian zone Am Gries or a getaway on the local mountain of Lana, the Monte San Vigilio, a relaxing walk along the Brandis Promenade or a tour into the wild and romantic Gaul Canyon, Lana offers activities for every taste. Those who love playing golf, however, can engage in their favourite hobby on the Brandis golf course.

As far as the cultural programme is concerned, Lana offers a wide range of events such as the Pumpkin Days, Chestnut Days, LanaLive, the Blossom Festival, the open-air theatre in the Gaulschlucht gorge as well as the enchanting Christmas Market.
