MTB tour Leadner, Verano and Wurzer mountain huts

On this mountain bike round tour we pass and discover three mountain huts in the surroundings of Avelengo

Starting in the village centre of Avelengo (parking space) the first part of our tour proceeds on an asphalted road -

It’s time for our descent. After the first bend soon the path no. 2 leads us down towards the Malga Wurzer -

Finally also the technical abilities are in demand. The markers on the trees are not very clear here, somewhere here should be the path, a section through the rocky forest -

The rocky section is not too long. Soon we cycle again along a comfortable forest path towards the Wurzer mountain hut -

We start our tour at the parking space under the parish church in the centre of Avelengo. From here, we follow trail n° 16 (Hinterdorfweg) towards the Leadner mountain hut (Leadner Alm). Soon the asphalted road turns into a very well maintained forest road with some short steeper but still easy sections.

After about 40 minutes we reach the Leadner mountain hut at 1,520 m a.s.l. and have a nice cup of coffee. Afterwards, we continue our mountain bike tour on a forest road towards the Verano mountain hut (Vöraner Alm) at 1,900 m a.s.l., where we arrive after about half an hour.

Now we head downhill towards the Malga Wurzer Alm. To do this, we need to turn right onto trail no. 2 shortly after the first hairpin bend. Things get really rough from here on – in places, the path through the woods is barely recognisable as such. It’s literally over hill and dale on the way down; technical riders will love it! Everyone else is welcome to carry their bike downhill – this section isn’t too long. After crossing a meadow, the route continues along the usual pleasant forest tracks. Passing the Wurzer Alm (1,707 m a.s.l.) via track 2A, we descend back down to Avelengo.
