A cable car connects Lana with the skiing and hiking area of Monte San Vigilio (Vigiljoch in German), found at altitudes from 1,486 to 1,814 m asl. In summer, Monte San Vigilio has a lot to offer, from mountain biking to hiking, Nordic Walking and a number of other activities in the great outdoors. By the way: since the 60s, radon-containing mineral water is produced at Monte San Vigilio. This mineral spring water is applied in various therapies.
In winter, there are four ski lifts, taking you to some 5 km of ski runs at the heart of untouched natural sceneries. Moreover, they provide a toboggan run, a natural ice rink and all you need for relaxing snow-shoeing tours. And what about curling or a trip on a horse-drawn carriage?
Hiking suggestion: from the mountain station of the cable car (1,486 m asl), the trail n° 34 takes you to the S. Vigilio church (1,793 m asl), one of the highest located mountain sanctuaries of Tyrol. Its frescoes date back to the 14th century. Afterwards you continue to the mountain lake Laghetto Nero (n° 9). This part of the trail provides a great view on the surrounding mountains. The trail n° 7 takes you back to the starting point. For this walk we recommend you to schedule about 2.5 hours.
