Over 30 Romanesque cultural sites are brought together in the ‘Alpine Road of Romanesque Art – Stairways to Heaven’ project. Most of them open their doors frequently, while some can only be visited on special occasions, such as the ‘Romanesque Days’, which take place on the second weekend in October. These occasions feature accompanying programmes, guided tours, and much more, all offered free of charge. This is intended to enable visitors and locals alike to experience the area and its culture from around AD 1000, helping them to better understand this fascinating period of human history
