Autumnal Walk to the Moschwaldalm and Maiser Alm

This easy walking tour in the woods around Avelengo is very beautiful especially in autumn, when the leaves change colour

This autumnal walking tour is suited for the whole family. There is plenty to discover, the particularities of the forest and the autumnal yellowing of the larches, the surroundings of Merano with the high peaks in the area of Merano 2000, wide alpine pastures and bubbling mountain brooks. At the mountain huts, the typical mountain lifestyle can be experienced.

The walking tour starts at the “Tommenknott” bus stop, along the state road SP 167 from Avelengo to Falzeben (at the next bend, approx. 100 m further, there is also a small parking space). We follow the path no. 14 towards Falzeben. There we turn to the right onto the path no. 51 which proceeds to the Moschwaldalm and then to the Maiser Alm mountain huts. After one hour, a steep ascent leads us to a forest path (no. 15) which proceeds first to the Moschwaldalm and then to the Maiser Alm mountain hut.

After a rest at the mountain huts, we follow path no. 15A, which leads us downhill to our starting point again (an alternative is to follow the forest road no. 15). At the edge of the woods, we already see the first farms of Avelengo, at the first junction we follow the path no. 15B which proceeds straight to the parking space again.
