Sunnseitensteig from Postal to Verano

This walking tour leads steeply uphill, the effort is then rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view

Starting point of our hike is the valley station of the Postal-Verano Cable Car where we follow the signpost “Sunnseitensteig”. After a good half kilometre we reach a junction: on the left the Graf Volkmar Weg path continues flat towards Merano, on the right the Sunnseitensteig path, which we take, leads steeply uphill.

The path proceeds through the forest, after another 2 kilometres we reach an asphalt road and the view opens onto our destination, the mountain station of the cable car. But we are not at our destination yet, we cross the forest again and the gradient increases as well.

We pass a farm and the path changes once more from forest road to asphalt road and back again. Now we have reached the mountain station and enjoy our deserved lunch on the panoramic terrace of the café before taking the cable car downhill again.
