Snowshoe hike to the Berglalm mountain hut

The Bergl Alm, a rustic mountain hut in a secluded position above the Val Senales valley, is a popular destination for winter hikes and snowshoe tours

The Bergl Alm mountain hut is located above Gerstgras in the back Val Senales valley. It is open in winter and can be reached from Maso Corto via a hiking trail in about 2 hours. Starting point of our tour is the parking space of the Val Senales Cable Car. Passing the Kurzhof farm and the valley station of the Lazaun Cable Car we hike towards south, on the path no. 5. First we walk slightly downhill across the snowy meadow landscape of Maso Corto, the route soon branches off to the right towards the forest.

The path proceeds uphill and we reach the Lagaun Valley, an almost untouched high valley, which is under conservation. Here every season has its magic - in winter it is the white landscape with the few trees at the mountain slopes of the valley and the deep blue sky behind. From here we have to walk another 2 km and manage about 100 metres in altitude until we reach our destination. We are already looking forward to our lunch break and the meal at the beautiful mountain hut. For our way back to Maso Corto we take the same route later.
