Plan Passiria Mountain Carts

The ‘Grünboden Express’ cable car takes you from Plan in Val Passiria up to lofty heights – over 2,000 metres – in just three minutes. Once at the top, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Tessa Group Nature Park where, in winter, the Plan Passiria Ski Area opens its doors.

With the Plan Mountain Carts, you can whizz down 3.5 kilometres along a forest road from the mountain station to the valley station. Before setting off, you have the opportunity to explore the area high up on various hikes. The Panorama Trail and the path through the forest to the Malga Faltschnal are considered easy, whereas the tour to the Malga Lazins and the longer hike from the Malga Faltschnal to Lake Erensee are slightly more challenging. Or you spend a few adventurous hours at the Spider Park high ropes park before hopping onto a mountain cart. It’s a 15-minute walk from Plan.

Children who are at least 1.25 metres tall are allowed to drive the mountain carts themselves. However, kids under the age of 14 may only drive if accompanied by an adult supervisor. A helmet is provided for the ride and the disc brakes ensure you have the necessary control over your speed. Thanks to the low seat, the cart’s centre of gravity is just above the ground, providing extra stability and a safe driving experience. Plan in Val Passiria (Pfelders in German) is also easy to reach by public transport, with a bus connecting the village to the spa town of Merano.
