The mountain village of Magdfeld, located at a sunny slope in the Gruppo di Tessa mountains, watches over the entrance of the Val Passiria valley
Magdfeld is located at 1,148 m asl above the locality of Sorgente on the south-east slope of the Gruppo di Tessa in the homonymous nature park. Magdfeld is one of the bases for hikers along the Alta Via Meranese high path and offers several accommodations for overnight stays. Coming from the north you reach Magdfeld traversing the Valclava, a valley that is deeply carved into the Gruppo di Tessa mountains.
The village itself is of rather modest dimensions, the surroundings, however, represent a fabulous hiking area. While the high path includes only few drops of altitudes, there are also hiking destinations for those who aim higher, e.g. to the Fagls alpine pasture and the homonymous lake (2,100 m), to the Falser Kaser and the Passo di Valmara (2,590 m) to Plan.
