Malga Faglsalm - Malga Falser circular hike

The Valser Valley - also Falser Valley - is located above Valclava in the Passiria part of the Tessa Group. Here we enjoy a beautiful, varied circular hike through lonely forest and alpine meadow areas

The starting point of our circular tour is at the Rappenhöfe car park above Magdfeld, accessible via a mountain road that branches off from the Val Passiria road at the district of Valclava (Kalmtal) south of San Martino (St. Martin). Right at the Rappenhöfe, the path 4A branches off to the left. It leads steeply uphill through the forest. Here begins the area of the Tessa Group Nature Park. After about 90 minutes we reach the timberline - alpine meadows spread out. At almost 2,000 m a.s.l. we find the rustic Malga Faglsalm, where we can rest and recharge our batteries.

From here, the route continues uphill for another 150 metres to the Falgssee, a dreamy mountain lake surrounded by high pastures where cattle, horses and even a few llamas graze. Finally we have reached the highest points and now hike along trail no. 4 and 5, a high route, towards the inner valley. At the end of the valley, the path descends slightly to the Malga Falser, also known as Malga Valser.

Now the way back still awaits us on the easy alpine road no. 4A, which takes us from the alpine meadows back to the forest and the Rappenhöfe farms again. The tour, with more than 800 metres of altitude difference, takes 5 hours, but you are rewarded with a varied landscape in the tranquillity of the Tessa Group Nature Park.
