Lakes

Various and imposing are the lakes and ponds spread all over the area of Merano, Val Passira, Val d’Ultimo and Val Senales

A wide range of alpine lakes as well as artificial lakes characterise the area of Merano and surroundings and make this area an even more popular hiking area. Some of them extend down in the valley, while others are embedded between the highest peaks and are only reachable on foot.

Particularly popular lakes are the Green Lake (Lago Verde), Lake Vernago, Lake Fontana Bianca, Lake Zoccolo, the Covolo Lakes, Lake Tret (see pic), the Sopranes Lakes and the Three Lakes (Tre Laghi). By the way: many of these lakes are a perfect destination for a family day trip!
