video : Hiking tour to the Sopranes Lakes
The Sopranes Lakes are the largest high alpine lake district in South Tyrol. Due to their high altitude (2,500 m a.s.l.) they are often bordered by snow also in summer months. Great hiking paths take you past a total of ten mountain lakes - an adventure for the whole family! Especially the Cima Rosa peak (2,624 m a.s.l. - Spronser Rötelspitze) offers a wonderful panoramic view on the lakes.
The first lakes, which can be reached from the alpine pasture Leiteralm above Lagundo, are the two Milk Lakes (2,540 m a.s.l.). The next lake you will come across is also the largest lake, the Long Lake at 2,377 m a.s.l. Continuing your hike you will discover the Green Lake (2,338 m a.s.l.) and the Black Lake (2,589 m a.s.l.). The small Slate Lake (2,501 m a.s.l.) and the Kettle Lake (2,512 m a.s.l.) are the next ones to come across. Finally you reach the Kaser Pond (2,117 m), the Pfitscher Pond (2,126 m a.s.l.) and the small Midge Lake.
By the way, the Sopranes Lakes are significantly involved in the water supply of the town of Merano.
