Parcines village

Parcines is the home of Peter Mitterhofer, the inventor of the typewriter, to whom the village has dedicated a museum

The village of Parcines, from a geographical viewpoint located in the Bassa Val Venosta, extends at an altitude of 650 m a.s.l. on a 7,000 year-old debris cone. It is typified by a series of historical buildings, of which above all the Stachelburg castle and the Gaudentanturm and Spauregg residences are worth to be highlighted. The parish church of Parcines is dedicated to S. Pietro, Paolo and Nicolò and was first mentioned in 1264.

Parcines is the homevillage of Peter Mitterhofer, the inventor of the typewriter, to whom the village has dedicated a museum as well as a cultural trail. Another pleasant trail is the legends’ path (Sentiero delle Leggende), simply follow the two prehistoric hunters signposting this path. An absolute must-see is the waterfall of Parcines, which is one of the most impressive in the alpine area. With an altitude of 97 metres it is particularly imposing in the months of snow melt, from May to July. However, if you prefer a more comfortable way to reach this waterfall we recommend to take the shuttle service from the centre.

The heated outdoor pool of Parcines, the bow and arrow course as well as the numerous possibilities for hiking in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park, such as to the Rifugio Nassereto or the mountain farms of Parcines, make your holidays a complete and lasting experience.
