Glaiten is located at 1,000 m a.s.l. and can be reached via the road stretching to Passo del Giovo. The village is above all known for its S. Ippolito Chapel which is of late-Romanesque origins. This sight can be seen from the centre of the village and can only be reached on foot. By the way, from S. Ippolito you can enjoy a fabulous view on the Val Passiria up to Merano.
Worthwhile is also a walk to the Monte Fumaiolo (2,389 m a.s.l.), which is considered to be the local mountain of San Leonardo in Passiria. To ascend this mountain, start at the Römerkehre U-curve at Passo del Giovo. In winter it is a popular excursion destination for those who love ski tours. From its summit you enjoy a great view on the Oetztal, Stubai and Sarentino Alps.
